Engineering

The container to the left is valued at approximately USD3,500.00 when new.  It must be constructed in a manner to assure that its useful life will be a minimum of 10 to 12 years. It will be lifted by cranes and loaded/unloaded by fork trucks thousands of times over this period of time, exposed to the harsh elements of sea, rail and road transport, and be continuously used to transport tons of cargo ranging from fine crystal and electronic products to heavy machinery and scrap metal.

The key elements to ensure that a container can fulfill these requirements safely and efficiently are quality construction, materials and design. Once a container is built, there is no way to go back and correct a serious flaw in any of these categories. If a problem should occur, the fleet owner will have no alternative than to spend an excessive amount for maintenance and repair, or prematurely sell the containers for scrap or as land based storage units. Either choice can be financially catastrophic.

It is SCCT's mission to make certain this does not happen

SCCT maintains a staff of experienced engineers, field supervisors and managers in Asia, all of whom are trained in the design, manufacture and maintenance & repair of dry, open top, flat rack, refrigerated and tank containers. All are university graduates and fluent in both Chinese and English.

Upon our arrival at a factory we assure that the container design and the materials to be used are based upon the specification approved by the buyer.  We then chair a meeting with factory management to confirm that they understand the quality control guidelines established by the buyer and by SCCT.

Once initial material preparation and on-line production begins, the SCCT staff is continuously active on the factory floor during all shifts.  We pinpoint which stations display any deficiency in workmanship, and focus on these areas throughout the production period.  We quantitatively track the quality of one hundred and forty five individual container components and assembly processes and score them within five possible areas of rejection;  Dimensional, Forming, Material, Application and Assembly.

SCCT is the only company in the world today to provide a database service of this nature to customers.  This enables SCCT, our customers, and the factories themselves to progressively track performance and quality control improvement.  It also establishes a benchmark to facilitate factory comparison.

SCCT offers customers the option of receiving digital on-line photographs of their container production as it happens.  This enables buyers to have visibility over the production process, direct involvement in the resolution of any problems, and a first look at their new containers.

SCCT provides design consultation to buyers requesting this service.

SCCT performs factory audits on behalf of buyers and factories.

SCCT's tariff is highly competitive and can be structured to fit a customer's specific requirements.  Volume discounts are available as are contract rates for full service administrative and technical representation based upon a yearly agreement.

SCCT represents major container leasing companies, ocean carriers and private buyers in the Peoples Republic of China. To date, SCCT has supervised the production of over 500,000 containers throughout Asia.

SCCT offers on-hire and off-hire inspection services for operating equipment in the Peoples Republic of China.
